Dragon Ball Super Super Hero ドラゴンボール超スーパー スーパーヒーロー Doragon Bōru Sūpā Sūpā Hīrō is the 21st Dragon Ball movie and the second Dragon Ball Super movie. It was initially set for release on April 22, 2022; however, a hack at Toei caused the film to be delayed until June 11, 2022.[3][4] Novel adaptations were also released and the events of the movie received an adaptation for the Super Hero Saga of the Dragon Ball Super manga, in which the events are expanded upon. Summary[] A long time ago, there existed an evil organization known as the Red Ribbon Army led by Commander Red. Though they were seemingly defeated by the young child Goku, their head scientist, Dr. Gero, escaped and many years later was responsible for the creation of the Androids and Cell. Magenta, the son of Commander Red, has spent his time hoping to bring about the return of the Red Ribbon Army, using Red Pharmaceuticals as a front. He and his second-in-command Carmine learn of Dr. Hedo, the grandson of Dr. Gero. As Carmine drives into the Red Ribbon compound, hidden away under a holographic lake, he fails to notice that he is being followed by Hachimaru, Dr. Hedo's spy robot. Carmine delivers a video presentation on Dr. Hedo to Magenta which shows a family tree consisting of his grandfather Dr. Gero, grandmother Vomi and his uncle Gevo, who before his death became the model for Android 16. Although a genius, Dr. Hedo is unable to find steady work due to troubling research which includes resurrecting previously deceased humans and using them to run a convenience store for him in order to shore up research funds, a crime that leaves him imprisoned. Magenta and Carmine decide to meet him outside the prison upon his release. Dr. Hedo riding with Magenta Dr. Hedo is released from prison, dressed in a superhero style suit and meets Carmine and Magenta, who pull up in a car and invite him in. He reveals he already knows who they are, having used his spy robot to trail them ever since Carmine first came around the prison. Magenta proposes that Dr. Hedo come work for them though he is reluctant, knowing that Red Pharmaceuticals is secretly the Red Ribbon Army, his grandfather’s connection to the organization causing trouble for himself and his parents. As a superhero fan he also takes issue with their plans for world domination. Carmine attempts to threaten Hedo with a gun but Hedo reveals that he's injected himself with serum that toughened his skin to withstand a certain degree of shock. In addition, Hachimaru, which lives in a compartment on his glove, carries a lethal poison. Magenta appeals to his sense of heroism and informs him that they believe Capsule Corporation is serving as the headquarters for a collection of aliens set on world domination themselves, and that the androids and Cell were part of a plan to stop them. He shows Hedo footage of Future Trunks killing Frieza and Hedo agrees to assist them and to contribute his research in creating the ultimate android superheroes. Pan learning how to fly. Six months later, Piccolo trains three-year-old Pan in the woods near his home. Pan wants to learn how to fly but is currently unable to do so. Piccolo tells her not to worry and it will come to her naturally in time. Pan asks if it's true her father could really be stronger than her grandfather Goku, as she's never seen Gohan fight. Piccolo says that he could be, but he isn't so sure about him at the moment. Pan heads off to kindergarten and Piccolo returns to his house. Gohan with weighted clothing Piccolo receives a call from Videl asking him to pick Pan up after kindergarten, as she's busy preparing her martial arts school for a tournament and Gohan is busy with his research. Piccolo pays Gohan a visit at his home and asks why he can't go and pick up Pan. Gohan talks about how busy he is and tries to explain his research, but Piccolo isn't interested, instead asking him if his research is more important than family and implores him to train in case evil were to show up again. Gohan, waves off the notion, proclaiming things will be alright as Goku and Vegeta are around. Piccolo throws a punch at Gohan, who blocks it, but Piccolo strikes him in the stomach with another blow. He changes Gohan's clothes into the traditional Piccolo gi and weighted cape with Gohan collapsing under the pressure. Piccolo encourages him to leave it on and agrees to pick up Pan. Piccolo returns home and begins to meditate when he is suddenly attacked by Gamma 2. He realizes Gamma is an android and notices the Red Ribbon logo. Gamma 2 tells Piccolo he was sent there on a mission to subjugate the Namekian but decides instead to kill him. The two fight and Gamma 2 believes he's killed Piccolo and leaves. Piccolo, having just managed to dodge Gamma 2's attack and slip away in the dust, follows the android back to the Red Ribbon base. There Piccolo subdues a guard and steals his uniform to use as a disguise. Gamma 1 and Gamma 2 with their creator, Dr. Hedo. Piccolo finds his way into a control room where Magenta, Carmine, Dr. Hedo and the two Gammas are holding a meeting, along with a number of soldiers standing guard. Gamma 1 chastises Gamma 2 for not confirming Piccolo's death body and reveals via camera footage that he got away. Angry over this, Magenta says that if this mistake reveals their identity to the enemy, they'll have to hasten their plans. He orders Dr. Hedo to finish his work on "Cell Max", but Hedo insists the two Gammas can finish the job on their own. He is also hesitant to activate it as his control system isn't finished, meaning he could easily turn against them. Overhearing the conversation about Cell Max, Piccolo slips away to contact Bulma by phone. He asks if Goku and Vegeta are around, but they're off training with Beerus. He asks Bulma to contact Whis. While waiting he heads to Korin's tower to acquire some Senzu Beans. Broly trains on Beerus' Planet On Beerus' Planet, Broly and Goku are engaged in a training match. When Broly starts to get carried away Goku asks him to back down lest he run rampant. Meanwhile, Vegeta is shown meditating and explains to Goku that this is a form of training. He asks if Goku noticed that at the Tournament of Power, the gap between Jiren and their power may not have been so great in the traditional sense. However, Jiren was able to save all his energy for specific instances of attack. This allowed him to put out greater offensive power, while also saving his strength. Vegeta focuses on being able to fight in the same way. Goku spars with Vegeta Whis applauds Vegeta for realizing this and proposes a training match between the three Saiyans but Vegeta refuses if Broly will be joining, as they'll all be in trouble if he gets carried away. Beerus, meanwhile, has woken up from a four-month nap only to find Lemo, Cheelai, and Broly living on his planet. Goku says that this was the best way to keep Broly safe from Frieza. After tasting Lemo's food and finding Cheelai to be attractive, he decides that they can stay. While the others eat ice cream, Broly watches Goku and Vegeta spar. During the match, an ice cream tub flies onto the top of Whis' staff, preventing him from noticing Bulma's call. On Earth, Korin gives Piccolo the only two Senzu Beans he has. Piccolo gets a call back from Bulma, saying she's had no luck contacting Whis. With few options left to defend the Earth, Piccolo remembers the Grand Elder Guru having unlocked Gohan and Krillin's potential and flies up to Dende to asks if he can perform a similar process for him. Dende says he can't as he is too young but upgrades the Dragon Balls to be able to do so. Piccolo wonders if he can collect the Dragon Balls in time, but Dende notes that Bulma likely already has them gathered. Piccolo heads to Capsule Corporation to meet Bulma. There, Piccolo takes the first wish and has Shenron unlock his latent potential, even noting that he also threw in a bonus. Bulma uses the other two wishes on minor cosmetic changes before she realizes to her horror that they could have used a wish to bring Goku and Vegeta back to Earth instead. When Piccolo chastises her for it, she points out that he hadn't thought of it either, and he sheepishly flies back to Red Ribbon HQ. Magenta at the Red Ribbon base Back at the base and eager to hasten their plans, Magenta and Carmine devise a plan to lure in Gohan next. Knowing he has a daughter, they decide to kidnap her to lure him to the base, to avoid unveiling themselves to the public. Piccolo, still in his Red Ribbon uniform, volunteers to go on the mission to kidnap Pan as he claims to be familiar with her, being the famous Mr. Satan's granddaughter. Piccolo is paired up with another soldier, 15, for the mission. Piccolo then figures out that going through with a staged kidnapping may be what it takes to snap Gohan back into action. The soldier 15 arrives at Pan's kindergarten but is instantly knocked unconscious by her when he tries to claim he's there to take her home. She recognizes Piccolo by his ki and he takes her and the unconscious 15 back onto the Red Ribbon plane. Aboard the plane, Piccolo reveals his plan to her and delivers her to Red Ribbon base. Pan feigns terror in a recording used to lure Gohan in and Piccolo and 15 show up at Gohan's house to deliver the message. Gohan is unperturbed by 15 holding him at gun point but when he pulls out the footage of Pan. Gohan flies out of the window and powers up into Super Saiyan, creating a massive crater that causes his house to topple. In a panic, 15 apologizes and politely asks Gohan to come along, ensuring him Pan is unharmed. Potential Unleashed Gohan powers up to face Gamma 1. Gohan arrives at the base and immediately rushes toward Pan, who is waiting at the top of a tower behind a crowd of soldiers, the high-ups and the Gammas. Gamma 1 intervenes and the two battles with Gohan being at a disadvantage even as a Super Saiyan. Piccolo and Pan feign a performance in which he acts like he's a soldier and lifts her up by the collar and threatens her only to be surprised when the Gammas protest his actions. Nevertheless, the move causes Gohan to go Potential Unleashed where he begins to gain the upper hand. Orange Piccolo awakens. Gamma 2 is ordered into the fight as backup, but Piccolo intervenes to stop him, using his new, awakened form. Gamma 2 reveals he had more power still and puts Piccolo on the back foot again. Momentarily defeated and falling into a crevice in the base, Piccolo remembers Shenron's words about "throwing in a bonus". A sigil alights on his back, his skin turns orange, his antenna stands on end, and he grows bulkier. With this stronger form, he takes out Gamma 2 with a single punch. Pan meanwhile begins plowing through Red Ribbon soldiers and with Magenta and Carmine seeing the Gammas lose their advantage, they start to retreat. Threatened by Pan, Carmine fires a gun at her, with Pan dodging all of his shots. Outraged at Carmine’s actions, the Gammas finally realize they've been had, and cease their fight with Gohan and Piccolo. Pan knocks out Carmine, while Magenta slips away. Dr. Hedo heads out after him. The battle seemingly over, everyone regroups, now with the Gammas in tow. Bulma arrives, having brought Trunks, Goten, Krillin and Android 18 as backup. Piccolo is surprised to see Goten and Trunks have grown so much since they last met. Gohan notes that Saiyans remain small until they hit a certain age, at which point they have a radical growth spurt. Gohan asks Piccolo about his new form and Piccolo notes that Shenron was quite generous with his "bonus". Gohan asks him to give it a name and being told by Gohan he was orange; he arbitrarily decides on "Orange Piccolo". Inside the base, Magenta prepares to awaken Cell Max. When Dr. Hedo tries to stop him, Magenta shoots him and begins to undo more of Cell Max's restraints. Dr. Hedo gets up, reminding him about his toughened skin and Magenta reveals that he's gone through some upgrades as well removing his suit to show the cybernetically enhanced body underneath. He prepares to fight but is stung on the back of the neck by Hachimaru, whose poison begins killing him. Magenta uses his final moments to undo the final locks on Cell Max who begins to break free from his chamber. The sky darkens, and Cell Max, a gigantic, red creature resembling second-form Cell with wings, explodes from below the base. Piccolo tosses a Senzu Bean to Gohan, but he fails to catch it without his glasses on and it falls into a crevice. Goten, Trunks, 18, the Gammas, Piccolo and Gohan, tired from his previous battle and only capable of going Super Saiyan, charge into combat against Cell Max, while Krillin stays back with Pan and Bulma. Cell Max charges at Gamma 2. The Gammas reveal that Dr. Hedo had built a weakness into the top of Cell Max's head. They'll have to penetrate it to kill him. With no one able to make much progress and Cell Max shrugging off even a Explosive Demon Wave from Piccolo aimed directly at his weak point, Goten and Trunks attempt to fuse. They slip up, producing the fat version of Gotenks. Gotenks attempts to go Super Saiyan but fails. After being pinballed around from Cell Max to several other characters, he headbutts Cell Max directly on the weak point, producing some cracks on Cell Max's head. Gamma 2 plans to sacrifice himself to deliver the final blow, gathering all his energy from above and driving himself through Cell Max. With the cooperation of the rest of the team, Cell Max is put in a position for the charged-up Gamma 2 to strike, but he's blocked at the last second, only managing to take off Cell Max's arm. To escape the resulting explosion, Pan finally learns to fly. Orange Piccolo vs. Cell Max Enraged, Cell Max tries to stomp the unconscious Dr. Hedo and Gamma 2's lifeless body, but Piccolo intervenes, returning to his Orange Piccolo form to hold up Cell Max's foot. Krillin reminds him of his gigantification technique from the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament and encourages him to use it. Piccolo become a giant but still struggles against Cell Max. Piccolo puts his hopes in Gohan, telling him that he will hold Cell Max in place long enough for Gohan to get in one, full-power attack on the weak point. He offers Gohan the last Senzu Bean from his belt and engages in an uphill battle with support from the others, while Gohan charges his power. Gohan Beast's first transformation. Cell Max manages an attack that seems as if it's killed Piccolo, causing Gohan to awaken past his Potential Unleashed into a new form with white hair and red irises. Gohan easily withstands Cell Max's attack before returning one of his own, overwhelming him. Cell Max begins charging a massive ball of energy, which he collapses into a concentrated attack. Piccolo recovers and holds Cell Max in place. Cell Max tosses his energy ball and Gohan performs a Special Beam Cannon, running through both Cell Max's attack and his head. Cell Max falls to the ground and explodes, while the group escape from the blast. In the aftermath, Pan runs up to Gohan and Piccolo who revert to normal. Gohan and Pan embrace and Piccolo congratulates Gohan. Gohan notes that even had his father and Vegeta been around, they may not have been able to defeat Cell Max. Piccolo says that's exactly why it's important for Gohan to stay prepared. Gamma 2, drained of energy, disintegrates as Dr. Hedo and Gamma 1 watch. Piccolo states that in the end, Gamma 2 really was a superhero. Dr. Hedo is repentant of his actions, knowing he was being used and chose not to care and offers to hand himself over to the police. However, Bulma offers the repentant Dr. Hedo and Gamma 1 places at Capsule Corporation as Dr. Hedo's skin serum may prove useful in cosmetic research. With the latest threat dealt with, Pan happily flies around everyone. In a post-credit scene, Vegeta and Goku are both exhausted from their fight to the point that they can hardly move. Vegeta throws a weak punch at Goku, who finally topples over, followed by Vegeta. Vegeta happily remarks that he finally won. Beerus has fallen asleep while Cheelai is happy that their dull fight is finally over, but Lemo and Broly have both been moved to tears. Timeline placement[] Pan is three years old in the film,[5] indicating that it takes place before the Peaceful World Saga,[6] where she is four. The film occurs "right before" the original manga's final chapter.[7] The film occurs at some point after the Granolah the Survivor Saga. However, the film was written purely as a sequel to Broly, and so the Galactic Patrol Prisoner and Granolah the Survivor Sagas are not referenced due to being created in parallel with the film.[8] Development[] The original series author Akira Toriyama once again provides the original concept, writing the script including every detail of the dialogue, and drawing character designs for the film changing pre-existing characters to their manga designs instead of those used in the anime. It has been said that he is even more invested in this film than the prior three he wrote.[4] The Red Ribbon Army were picked as antagonists since they didn't make a big splash in the original manga.[9] Super is used twice in the film's name as Toriyama forgot that the main title was Dragon Ball Super rather than just Dragon Ball. The double usage is unintentional.[10] Production began in 2017, the final draft was produced after two years.[8] Production began before the release of Dragon Ball Super Broly.[4] Initially Piccolo was going to be the sole lead of the film, but Iyoku pushed for Gohan being his co-star.[11] Toriyama does not script out battle scenes beyond "and now these two characters have a big battle".[10] In trailers, a three-way battle between Goku, Vegeta and Broly was shown to occur on Beerus' planet, however this was cut from the final film for unknown reasons. This is the third theatrical film to feature the Red Ribbon Army as the primary antagonists after Dragon Ball The Path to Power and Dragon Ball Z Super Android 13!. This is the first film to have Piccolo as the main protagonist, instead of Goku or Gohan. It is also the second film to have Goku play no role in the overall conflict, after Dragon Ball Z Bio-Broly. Great Ape and Super Saiyan 2 are the only forms of Gohan's that aren't used in a fight in the film. Though Super Saiyan 2 does make a brief reappearance in the film's intro recapping Cell's defeat. This is the first time Johnny Yong Bosch voices Broly in a project where Vic Mignogna is not involved as previous projects still had Vic as Broly while Johnny was the Dragon Ball Super version or redubbed his performances. This is the first time Robert McCollum voices the Dragon Ball Super version of Goten having already voiced his teen versions for Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. This is the first time a Dragon Ball project has been distributed under the "Crunchyroll" Banner following Funimation's rebrand to Crunchyroll as of August 2022. This is the first time in English dubbed Dragon Ball media where the Energy Wave technique is referred to by its original Japanese name, Kikōha. Directory Characters → Villains → DBZ villains → Android "Do not try to escape. Yes, it is useless. Until I have all your energy, I will never let you go." — Android 19 to Vegeta in "The Secret of Dr. Gero" Android 19 人造人間19号 Jinzōningen Jū Kyū-Gō, lit. "Artificial Human No. 19" is Dr. Gero's nineteenth creation, designed to serve Gero's vendetta against Goku, who overthrew the Red Ribbon Army as a child. He is the secondary antagonist of the Androids Saga. Appearance[] Android 19's appearance consists of completely white skin, two dangling earrings, extra-large orange pants, an extra-large banana white strap-on vest, a broad red sash, and an orange pointed hat with a Red Ribbon Army logo on the front. He is overweight and has pointed, light blue cold eyes. Underneath his hat is a domed glass cranium, similar to that of Android 20 but with a pinkish color and an entirely mechanical brain housed inside. Personality[] Out of all of Dr. Gero's Androids, 19 is by far Dr. Gero's most loyal and obedient creation. He is committed to Dr. Gero's quest for revenge against Goku and was very eager to face Goku himself. He is also apparently very intelligent as he was able to convert his creator Dr. Gero into Android 20, an energy absorption model like himself. He is quite confident in his abilities and appears to take pleasure in his opponent's suffering such as when Goku was weakened by his Heart Virus. However he relies too much on the data gathered by Dr. Gero's Remote tracking device which only follows Goku and the Z Fighters' battles of the Vegeta Saga and Trunks Saga, leaving 19 overconfident after defeating Super Saiyan Goku who 19 was only able to defeat due to the Heart Virus and unprepared when facing Super Saiyan Vegeta who had been training at 450 times the Earth's gravity for 3 years in preparation for fighting the Androids, 19 underestimated Vegeta believing that he could take on Vegeta due to the data Dr. Gero had gathered on the Saiyan prince during the Saiyan conflict. Despite being a machine, he is shown to possess the ability to feel fear and even cowardly attempts to flee out of fear of Super Saiyan Vegeta. Biography[] Background[] Android 19 is the final android designed by Dr. Gero to be created exclusively from synthetic technology although in some alternate timelines this respect goes to Android 16. The android was modeled after a doll decorating the command center of an enemy base, which Dr. Gero brought home as a trophy.[2] When Dr. Gero decided to turn himself into Android 20 in order to become immortal,[3][4] his brain was transplanted into his android body by Android 19. Dragon Ball Z[] Androids Saga[] Main article Androids Saga Android 19 battles Goku Accompanied by Android 20 the cyberneticized Dr. Gero, Android 19 appears during an assault on an island nine miles southwest of South City. Since they are mechanical beings, with no ki, the Dragon Team are unable to sense their presence, which culminates in Yamcha's tragic run-in with the pair. Gero grips onto Yamcha's face and lifts him off of the ground. As his energy is sapped through Gero's gripping hand, Gero uses his other hand to impale Yamcha's chest. Detecting that Yamcha's energy is dropping fast, the Z fighters manage to find him along with the two Androids. Super Saiyan Vegeta rips off Android 19's hands After Android 20 destroys half of the city and Goku requests to fight somewhere else, Android 19 challenges Goku who proceeds to transform into Super Saiyan, shifting the fight in his own favor. Shortly after though, the heart virus foretold by Future Trunks begins affecting Goku later than expected, who collapses and is powerless against Android 19's attempt at energy absorption. Suddenly, before Android 19 could sap the last of his energy, he is sent flying aside by a surprise kick to the face. Fuming, 19 rises and looks upon his assailant, revealed to be Vegeta. Believing Vegeta is of roughly the same power level as Goku, the android arrogantly challenges the Saiyan, but, along with everyone else present, is shocked when Vegeta transforms into a Super Saiyan as well. Android 19's head after his body was destroyed by Vegeta Android 19 battles Vegeta, but with Vegeta's mercilessness, Android 19 is beaten badly by the Saiyan prince until he finally grabs hold of Vegeta's arms, claiming that he will not release hold of Vegeta until he has sapped dry all of his energy. This prompts Vegeta to prop his feet onto Android 19's face, before slowly tearing off his arms. Now terrified, Android 19 desperately attempts to make an escape, however, Vegeta blasts him with his Big Bang Attack, and Android 19's fate is made clear when from the explosion emerges his smoking head. Shortly after the battle, Future Trunks arrives at where the battle took place, but when he sees Android 19's head, he does not recognize it, realizing that the Android that the Z Fighters destroyed is actually a different Android from the ones that are from his future/time. Dragon Ball Heroes[] Supreme Kai of Time Saga[] Main article Supreme Kai of Time Saga An incarnation of Android 19 appears as one of the competitors in the Super Space-Time Tournament, along with Androids 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18. As a result of his team failing to advance to the second round of the tournament, Android 19 and his space-time were erased. Dragon Ball GT[] Super 17 Saga[] Main article Super 17 Saga Android 19 and Pui Pui unleash their blasts in Dragon Ball GT Android 19 is shown with Pui Pui using their energy blasts after they escaped from Hell. He is destroyed when Goten and Trunks appear to notice him out of the corner of their eye, launch a barrage of ki shots into an alley, comically resulting in his head flying off once again. Shadow Dragon Saga[] Main article Shadow Dragon Saga He is also seen firing energy blasts in a flashback during the final episode of GT. Film Appearances[] Super Hero[] Main article Dragon Ball Super Super Hero Android 19 makes a cameo appearance during the Red Ribbon Army recap standing alongside Android 20. Other Dragon Ball Stories[] Dragon Ball Fusions[] Main article Dragon Ball Fusions Androids 19 and 20 appear among the many historical figures who end up inside the Timespace Rift created due to Tekka and Pinich's wish to Shenron for a tournament to prove who is the strongest in time and space, which leads to the Timespace Tournament. Androids 19 and 20 join forces with other Androids from different timelines and cause trouble within the Timespace Rift. Androids 20 and 19 seem to be focused primarily on absorbing energy from the many powerful fighters within the Timespace Rift. Like most Androids in Dragon Ball Fusions, Android 19 is classified as an Earthling a category which includes Androids and Human-Saiyan hybrids, in addition to normal Earthlings. Sub-Event "Justice's Little Ally" Androids 19 and 20 appear when Uub tells Tekka's Team that Satan City has been attacked and was about to chase after the perpetrators however they split up into two groups, forcing Uub to enlist the team's aid in tracking one of the groups down. He reveals that one of the groups consisted of an old man and fat ashen man, referring to Androids 20 and 19, while the other group was a boy with black hair and a girl with blonde hair referring to Androids 17 and 18. If Tekka's Team, selects the Old Guy and the Fatty, they will go after Androids 19 and 20 while Uub goes after 17 & 18. After catching up to Android 20 as he flies around Area F2, Android 20 asks who they are and why their power levels are so high. Their high-power levels even cause 20 to wonder if his Detection System is malfunctioning only for Android 19 to indicate that it is working properly as his system is detecting the same levels. Using Uub's description, Kid Trunks identifies them as the two they're looking for. Android 20 decides to steal energy from Tekka's Team causing 19 to laugh before telling them to prepare to fight. After being defeated, Android 20 cannot compute how they lost and is captured by Tekka's Team along with 19. Tekka's Team takes them back to Uub who reveals he had just defeated 17 & 18, which leads to Pan asking Uub to join Tekka's Team which he accepts. If they selected the other group, then they will take on 17 & 18 while Uub goes after 19 and 20 whom he defeats by himself. Tekka's Team can encounter Androids 19 and 20 as part of a team of Androids on a cliff overlooking the Future Capsule Corporation building in Area F3. Their team appears as a Strong Enemy. To recruit either of them, Tekka's Team must KO them with a Zenkai Attack which will cause them to join Tekka's Team and appear on the Team's Spaceship. Power[] Manga and Anime Initially, Android 19 was no match for Super Saiyan Goku who defeated Frieza and spent 3 years training and preparing for the Androids arrival even with his heart disease kicking in, which made Piccolo notice how weak he was - noting that Goku's power was nowhere near as staggering as it should be, with Goku also already exhausted and breathing heavily. It was only after multiplying his power after absorbing Goku's Kamehameha and Goku's heart disease became far more severe that Android 19 was able to dominate his opponent. Later when Super Saiyan Vegeta arrived he lasted for a short amount of time, though even after absorbing more energy from Super Saiyan Vegeta he was still completely outmatched. It is implied that he is initially weaker than his creator, Dr. Gero as Android 20, but it's likely possible that he surpassed him after absorbing a lot of Goku's energy. Techniques and Special Abilities[] Flight – The ability to fly without the use of ki. Energy Attack – The most basic form of energy wave used by androids. Energy Absorption – also known as Life Drain 19. A technique where Android 19 takes hold of an opponent with his hands and proceeds to drain their energy through his palms. In the Androids Saga, 19 uses this as a last resort against Vegeta, who spends the duration of their battle outclassing him, but is yet again overpowered when Vegeta tears off 19's arms. 19 Absorb - Android 19's signature attack in the Raging Blast Series. Energy Drain - A Special Move used by Android 19 in Dragon Ball Fusions that allows him to steal enemy HP. Super Energy Drain - A stronger version of Energy Drain that appears as one of Android 19's Special Moves in Dragon Ball Fusions. Hyper Energy Drain An even stronger version of Energy that is stronger than Super Energy Drain. Can be learned by Android 19 as a Special Move after reaching Lv. 59 in Dragon Ball Fusions. Energy Wave Absorption - A Ki Blast counter Special Move that allows Android 19 to absorb Ki Blast techniques in Dragon Ball Fusions. Super EW Absorption - A stronger version of Energy Wave Absorption that appears as one of Android 19's Special Moves in Dragon Ball Fusions. Android 19 firing the Eye Beams Photon Shot – A Full Power Energy Wave fired from the palm of 19's hand. Villainous Carnage – Android 19 and Pui Pui both fire Full Power Energy Waves in opposite directions. Used in Dragon Ball GT and named in the Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game. Cybernetic Pain – A High Power Rush used by Android 19. Also called Yahoo! Eye Beam – Android 19 uses this move in the anime, as well as in the Raging Blast series. Bionic Punisher – A synthetic form of Eye Laser used by Android 19, as well as Android 20. Rolling Crush – Android 19 kicks the opponent up and grabs them in mid-air to perform a spinning piledriver. Used in the Budokai series. Power Break – Android 19 kicks the opponent up in the air, and then he kicks and punches them down again. Used in the Budokai series. Pump Up – A move Android 19 used in the Budokai Tenkaichi series and Raging Blast series. False Courage – A move Android 19 used in the Budokai Tenkaichi series and Raging Blast series. Guard Up - A Special Move in Dragon Ball Fusions that allows Android 19 to increase his Defense by powering up. EX-Fusion - By wearing a Metamo-Ring and performing the Fusion Dance, Android 19 can fuse with Android 20/Dr. Gero to create Android 1920. Fusions[] Android 1920[] Main article Android 1920 Android 1920 in Dragon Ball Fusions The EX-Fusion of Android 19 and Android 20 introduced in Dragon Ball Fusions. Equipment[] Detection System – A scouter embedded within the android's eyes as sensors that can detect energy level and location. Was named in Dragon Ball Fusions by Android 20 when he wonders if he is malfunctioning after detecting the power of Tekka's Team during a Sub-Event, only for 19 to confirm it is working properly as 19's Detection System is picking up the same levels as 20's Detection System.[5] Video Game Appearances[] Budokai Team Android Trophy for unlocking Android 19, Android 16, and Android 18 in Budokai HD Collection Dragon Ball Z III Ressen Jinzōningen Dragon Ball Z Gekitō Tenkaichi Budōkai Dragon Ball Z 2 Super Battle Dragon Ball Z The Legend Dragon Ball Z Legendary Super Warriors Dragon Ball Z The Legacy of Goku II Dragon Ball Z Budokai Dragon Ball Z Sagas Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 2 Dragon Ball Z Bakuretsu Impact Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 Dragon Ball Z Harukanaru Densetsu Dragon Ball Z W Bakuretsu Impact Dragon Ball Z Dragon Battlers Dragon Ball Raging Blast Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi Tag Team Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 Dragon Ball Heroes Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi Dragon Ball Z For Kinect Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection Dragon Ball Z Battle of Z Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butōden Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle Dragon Ball Fusions Dragon Ball Legends Super Dragon Ball Heroes World Mission Dragon Ball Z Kakarot While Android 19 does not actually appear in Xenoverse series, his outfit appears as clothing options under the name Android 19's Clothes and his hat appears as an accessory under the name Android 19's Hat. So, rather than make them the final androids, Toriyama opted to continue the saga in favor of Android 17 and Android 18.[6] When Vegeta rips off Android 19's hands, red liquid spews from his arms, making it look like he is losing blood, but for a purely synthetic android, he should be losing oil. In fact, Vegeta even refers to it as oil when he mentions that he has an oil leak. Android 19 has what looks like an electronic brain under his hat, much like Android 20 has a human brain. In Dragon Ball Fusions, he shares this trait with Android 33, Android 44, and Android 55, although their braincases are left uncovered. With the exception of Android 13, Android 14, and Android 15, Android 19 is the only Android to follow Dr. Gero's orders and is loyal to his creator's mission to eliminate Goku and not rebel against him at least within the main series. Android 17 and 18 rebelled and killed Dr. Gero, while Android 16 chose to ignore his programming to kill Goku in order to eliminate the threat posed by Cell and helped Gohan awaken his Super Saiyan 2 form, which led to Cell's demise. While Cell did end up killing Goku with his self-destruction, it was unintentional, and he was more concerned with testing his power than fulfilling Dr. Gero's quest for revenge. However, despite his loyalty, Android 19 did show fear when he was overpowered by Super Saiyan Vegeta though he may have considered retreating to be his only viable option due to the removal of his hands and thus his ability to absorb energy. Despite him being an artificial intelligence, he somehow comes back when Android 17 and Hell Fighter 17 open a portal connecting Earth and Hell. He shares this trait with fellow Android Major Metallitron. However, in Dragon Ball FighterZ, it is revealed that Dr. Gero had developed technology capable of creating artificial souls, which presumably explains why completely artificial Androids like 19 and Metallitron ended up going to Hell after they died, as they presumably had artificial souls. Android 19 is decapitated on both occasions that he was defeated Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. The effect used for Android 19's voice varies with each dub. In the original Japanese dub of the Dragon Ball Z, as well as most other dubs including the Ocean dub, he has the voice of an ordinary human. In the Funimation dub, he has a nasally animatronic voice, save for the remastered season box sets released by the studio, which see the voice filter removed. In the American Budokai series, Android 19's voice is greatly similar to that of Majin Buu's. In the Raging Blast series, there is a special dialogue between 19 and Chiaotzu in which 19 will accuse him of copying his looks and Chiaotzu responds by saying "Copy you, why would I?"
